Fur Quests Devlog The Night Is Nigh

Greetings, dungeoneers; Pug here, and welcome back to another Fur Quests update!

Well, it is finally here: the long-awaited nighttime update. We've been holding off on this one for a while for a number of reasons, but quite a few of you have been expressing an interest in seeing us do this in the RPG maker engine, and why turn down the chance to practice with more immersive systems?

Now, I've played a few RPG maker games that had some problems with this system, so I knew roughly what to look out for. I learned early on that if you want the RPG maker to switch from exterior lighting to interior lighting, it could get buggy.

I've sorted out this problem, but I need to perform further testing to make sure that the bugs are gone.

Beyond that, the character sprites should have a smoother fade in transition now during dialogue. This did break some cutscenes, while others have remained unchanged due to how experimental that element of the game has been up until now as I've jumped back and forth between a few different methods to see what works, but I'll have that polished out soon.

For the next update, I'll start populating the city of cliffshade with more NPC's and quests to tie into the new day and night system. Most of it is already written out, but I wanted to wait to implement it until the night system was fully functional.

I've been quite nervous about this update for a long time, so a special thanks go out to our backers, who encouraged me to go through with this.

And we have a super exciting backer-exclusive update coming this Sunday over at Patreon and Subscribestar.

It's a little special, something I've been working on for a long time, and I am just about ready to show it off. ;)
