Open Alpha testing

The playable alpha build of Fur Quests is here!

Word can not describe how anxious I am right now.

It is insane to think that after all of these years, I finally published the game of my dream... Or, well, at least the start of it. We still have a long way to go before this chapter of Fur Quests is over. Or before you can see the chapters that came before it.

That is right; this is only the start of chapter 2! And why is that, you may ask? Well, you only get one first impression, and I have a lot planned for the start of this adventure. But I wouldn't want to spoil that just yet!

So instead, you get to experience Septim's adventures in the remote settlement known as Cliffshade, which is largely isolated from the rest of the world and thus the overarching story.

It may feel a bit sparse right now, but rest assured, it will become increasingly populated in the days to come!

As is to be expected, perhaps, this is a very experimental build. There are a lot of writing choices and UI elements I've not settled on yet.

For example, I began writing Furquest like you would a book. With very long descriptions and dialogue highlighted in quotation marks. But there is so little room in the dialogue boxes I had to trim those away. Now the quotation marks just kinda awkwardly hang there.

Another thing I could never make up my mind on was where to place the player choices. Middle or right? Dim background or framed? What do you think? Be sure to tell me in the comments down below and I hope you enjoy this first peek at Fur Quests.

Heya !

I'm back with some more feedbacks, and I think I've done pretty much everything for this alpha 0.1. (And thanks for your respond, when I read it all, it makes me super happy !)

So, I've find some little problem with texts that may be too long for the frame. It's not an alarming problem and it does not affect the rest of the game but for now, I only find two of it :

-The first is among Tera's dialogues, when we ask her about Celine, she says "Oh gods, how could you not? She slew the source-beast of Colon" and the dialogue is then cut by the frame before resuming on the next line. After searching in the log, I found the end of that word, "Colonia".

-The second is among the dialogue of the orc guard for the quest with the heart. I didn't wrote it right on my notes but there was a little cut in his text, less disturbing than the first one.

Finally, I've notice that Kara's quest cannot be done because the aera of the quest isn't accessible yet.

Oh and for Septim's earth abillities, I didn't see it the first time but I check and it was funny xD

Well that's all for now. I hope it helps you. If there's anything else I can do to help, I surely would love it if I can ! Making a game was always a child dream and help you makes me very happy !

Good catch! Those had completely escaped me. I must have replayed the game ten times throughout a weekend. XD

But are you sure you can't access the forest for Kara's quest? It worked fine when I tried it. I did notice; however, I had used a door event to do it. So I had to press use on it the area to get through.

That should be fixed on Wednesday, which is when I plan to do weekly updates.

But thank you very much for your contribution! <3

I really appreciate you taking time off your day to help like this. Every little report and helpful suggestion allows me to quickly improve on the game while keeping my main focus on the art and the writing.

It may not seem like much, but you've already been a significant help to us. Not just because of the bug report but showing that you are interested in the game, even in its current form is unbelievably encouraging to me.

It reminds me that its not just my little project that I have hidden away on my computer anymore. But something out there for people to see and enjoy. But I still have to put the work in to make it grow.

So again, I thank you. <3
Not sure how much content there will be to each update, but if you want to check out future releases, I'd really appreciate that.

Ok no it's good for Kara's quest, I just forgot to press Z xD

Weekly updates !? That's a really huge challenge if you asked me, take your time ! Even if you're late, I'm sure your growing community will like what you give us !

Well you can be sure to have me every Wednesday to see the updates !

Well, as I say, this game looks like a masterpiece in the making, and it's my dream to make a game (well, I'm just helping here, but it's already enough for me :3), so I don't mind taking off some of my time for it !

For now I can't really help on Patreon (and it furstrated me, I want to see those arts of yours ! XD) but I'll help as much as I could !

And I thank you to gave a poor, shy, frenchy furry the opportunity to makes part of his dream come true ! : )

I am glad you are enjoying Fur Quests so far. ^^

And don't worry about me. I'll probably slow down when it's time to get inside the walls of Cliffshade because there is a lot to do in there. with a lot of various factions and NPCs to deal with that affect how each other's quests are done.

I began work on it last year before my health declined. And I may start over from scratch with it cause it might save me a lot of frustrations.

I am still very much learning how to use RPG maker, and I made a lot of mistakes with my first attempt to make a city that changed depending on your choices. So much that if you were to glitch through the gates right now, the game would crash. XD

(1 edit)

I suppose the futur updates will still be in chapter 2 until you completely finich the first one ?

There always something to learn (I've passed +1,800h on Monster Hunter World Iceborne and 3 days ago, I learned a new thing XD), but it's a good job so far so don't worry ! And if you've made a mistake, I will find it and report it x3

Talking of it, the next update should be tomorow, right ? I'm excited to see what's new :3

(1 edit)

Yes all updates in the near future will be in chapter 2, as chapter 1 will take... A lot of work. A lot of illustrations, lots of assets that needs to be commissioned and of course, a whole lot of lewd fun!

As for tomorrows update it is mainly bug fixes and minor tweaks, with one additional enemy added.
I also added a few extra buildings in the outskirts to breathe a bit of life outside of the city, even if there isn't much to do yet.

I have also started to scatter small bits of content through out the forests to make it more than just a maze.

Finally there MIGHT be a intro cinematic added after starting new game. I say might because it was meant to be in the initial release, but I can't seem to figure out how to make RPG maker accept it. -.-

But it is as you say. There is always something new to learn.

Oh yeah and for the player choices, I would say middle in a framed background so the player see their choices with ease. But in the end the choice is yours :3

Thank you very much for feedback, it is really appreciated. <3

I'll work on framing the choices in the middle, while slowly chipping away at the quotation marks. ;)

Hey !
This alpha is really promising and although I can't help you on Patreon, I would like to at least make myself useful by giving my opinion as a player.
Admittedly, the lack of content (both in the game and for sex) is quite obvious but it's only alpha 0.1 so it's not a problem and understandable.
I find it refreshing that Tera has specials attacks using money, it's fun!
On the other hand, Septim is the worst of the group in my opinion, he is the least powerful, both in strength and in magic, and especially in HP. But maybe it's intentional, there must be a weak link after all I imagine.
As for the quests, I have been lost with the old man and the tree with the spirit. I was able to do it yes but it was a real maze. Or maybe I misread, I'm French so my English isn't perfect either. All that to say that a quest journal would be most acceptable if possible.
And a map! The game is going to be big, isn't it? It will be practical for the player so as not to lose it. Afterwards, you shouldn't take the player by the hand too muche either and lengthen the life of a quest with a badly dosed difficulty, the best I think is to give a clear indication to the player without being precise. For example by giving a claire landmark, then a more strange indication (Ex: "To the giant tree in the Forest of X, walk toward the rising sun to find your due". To say to go to a large tree that is easy to identify in a named location then to go east).
Here are my first impressions, sorry if it was too long to read but this game has so much potential that I would really like to help. Good luck and take your time!

Not too long at all, I really appreciate the feedback.

Here is my overly long response!

Yeah, the world is very sparse at the moment. Originally in the script, this was meant to be a large open area, with all of the quests being entirely optional. This is why the grove was so hard to find, and the killing bears quest was a bit overly long for what it needed to be (I already added an option to end it early for people who would rather do that.) But yeah, there is no reason the summoning quest needs to take place in a maze, when the berry one already does. So I'll shrink that down for you. ;)

I'll try to keep clarity in mind in the future, but I think that quest will be largely fine once I've toned down the maze elements. I did buy the Visustella quest log plugin, but at the moment, that is a bit of a luxury feature I haven't touched as of yet.

As for Septim being the weakest member of the party, that is very much intentional. The idea is that you will get the ability to boost him in the finished game through various means. You can also only have one companion with you in the cities, which is meant to make you feel more exposed and cautious when dealing with the various factions there. It also allows each companion's personality to shine better if they are allowed to be the sole focus during individual segments. But I will tweak him a little until then!

That being said, he is still weaker than I would have liked. It always gives you about 50% TP when testing battles in RPG maker. This meant when I was testing the game, Septim could always open his turn by enchanting Tera or Celine's weapons for greater effects.

I don't think I ever did that in this game build. XD So I'll lower the cost of those.

While editing Septim's abilities, I also see that his earth abilities use the lightning description. XD

That will be fixed in the next update.
