Fur Quests End of the Year Challenge

Greetings, dungeoneers, and welcome back to the finale of my challenge to finish Fur Quests by the end of the year! We accomplished a lot during this time. We added crafting, gathering, gambling, and even a pseudo-dungeon packed with traps, loot, and all sorts of goodies. This challenge really helped me grow as a creator—sharpening my strengths, revealing areas to improve, and giving me a clearer picture of the future. It’s true that the story of Fur Quests went through many rewrites, and some ambitious ideas had to be trimmed or postponed. The villain’s grand scheme shrank, the princess didn’t quite make it into the early game like I originally planned, and a few hoped-for assets didn't make it in before the deadline.

But this challenge pushed me to make the most of what I had—and that taught me far more than waiting ever could. And despite drifting from the original vision, this journey gave me exactly the experience I needed. That seed was planted earlier this year when I created my 3D model for Nagara.

I was incredibly proud of how she turned out—better than anything I imagined when this project began! But her style didn’t match RPG Maker, and the engine’s limits just couldn’t keep up with the skills I’d gained in animation and environment design.

It was bittersweet, but eye-opening: I was ready for the next step. For a long time, that realization stressed me out— my work in 3D and RPG maker felt worlds apart—but thanks to some of you and a few supportive friends, I finally gathered the courage to take the leap. I’m starting fresh in the Unreal Engine, where the only limit is imagination. I’ve got a handful of smaller projects planned to build up experience, and while playable builds may take longer than the RPG Maker ones, I’ll be keeping you all in the loop with bi-weekly video logs narrated by Fae!

And speaking of Fae: for those who love her work, don’t worry—she’s not going anywhere. She’ll continue helping out with future titles, and we still have a few more illustrations to add to Fur Quests before we officially close the book on it.

And since I crushed that old challenge to create a 3D monster in a week, I’m carrying that momentum forward. I’ll be introducing at least one new character, class, or creature every month—starting with a lizardman, as voted by our wonderful Patreon and Subscribestar supporters. Those pages will also be getting a rebrand soon to make room for this new series of smaller games, leading up to the day I’m bold enough to take on another open-world RPG.

I may have hoped for more from Fur Quests, but this adventure has opened the door to bigger, brighter, and more ambitious things ahead. And I can’t wait to take that next step with all of you.
