Fur Quests Devlog 2025-10-28

Greetings, dungeoneers, and welcome back to another Fur Quests update over on itch!
I do beg your pardon for the slight delay with this release. As we approach the finished build of Fur Quests, I’ve been tidying up some of the loose threads that have been dangling for years now—and it’s easy to get a little tangled in the process. But I seem to have gotten the worst bits sorted out, so without further ado!

This is the first proper look we’ve had at what a real orcish soldier looks like, and you can now fight him in the quest to find Sally Bray. Yes, that has finally been implemented! Originally, this was supposed to lead to something much bigger, but I wrapped it up by combining it with another scene featuring a brand-new illustration Fae made on a whim a while back.
Now, the fight with him isn’t fully balanced yet—and won’t be for a hot second. Right now, I’m trying to get all the little side projects wrapped up, like player housing, minor characters to fill out the town, and of course, the final area. I’ll worry about properly balancing the game once all of that is in place. Although I will say, while playtesting this build, he did manage to kill me a couple of times—which just goes to show how unpredictable RNG can be.
In other news, there’s something I wanted to share with you all because I worry the last couple of updates have been a bit too doom and gloom lately. My never-ending frustration with RPG Maker aside, it hasn’t been a great time to be an NSFW content creator.
Now, I’m not too fussed about it. I’ve always wanted to make something closer to The Witcher 3 than Leisure Suit Larry, so stepping away from pure smut and into something more erotic is fine by me. Besides, long-standing followers will know I’ve been outgrowing RPG Maker more and more, and I’ve been eager to stretch my artistic wings in a new engine. One of the few things that kept me at bay was the dread of programming.
But I’m happy to say that I’ve been reading up on coding in C++, and a very kind person has stepped in to help create the combat system of my dreams. Well, maybe not quite Baldur’s Gate 3 levels—but something a bit more manageable. He’s doing this as a favor in his free time, so it’ll probably be a while before there’s anything tangible to show, but he’s already been an immense help in setting plans for the future in motion.
Of course, my plan is still to learn how to do most of the game myself so I’ll always have the tools and means to move forward no matter what obstacles come my way. And as luck would have it, one of my favorite YouTubers, Cobra Code, is releasing a 2.5D RPG tutorial at the end of this year—just as we’ll be wrapping up work on Fur Quests.
There have been a lot of signs of what the future might hold lately, but as far as I can read them, the future looks good—and I can’t wait to discover what’s next alongside all of you. Your support and encouragement during this first step of my career mean the world to me. And though Fur Quests may never be the dream I always wanted it to be, I’m confident that by using it as a learning experience, what comes next will be greater than anything I’d dared to dream before.
So thank you all for the faith you’ve shown in my vision for the world of Erathor.
