Fur Quests Devlog 2025-09-06

Greetings, dungeoneers, and welcome back to another Fur Quests update on Itch!

This week, I added some extra polish and narrative elements I didn’t have time for last week, so the Goblin Mountains now feature a proper introduction and conclusion.

Originally, I had much bigger plans for the mountains—such as additional zones and even a brand-new companion. Some of these ideas were cut for time, while others were scrapped simply because I wasn’t happy with how they turned out. By default, RPG Maker doesn’t allow more than four characters in a party at once, so I would have needed to justify why there weren’t always five members in the field. In the future, when I’ve moved beyond the limitations of RPG Maker, I’d like to create something closer to Songs of Conquest—with a vast open battlefield and much larger armies clashing on either side.

I’ve learned a valuable lesson while working on Fur Quests. Rather than diving straight into a sprawling, world-spanning adventure as my first project in Unreal, I’ve planned four smaller projects to help me get to grips with the engine and animation. I’ll be discussing these next week in our backer-exclusive update on Patreon and SubscribeStar.

Until then, thank you for your patience and support. Only one zone remains before Fur Quests is complete. While it may not be the exact game I envisioned at the start of this journey, I’m grateful for the experience it has given me—and excited for what comes next.
